PhSJ OBJECTIVES
The goal of the Phonological Society of Japan is to contribute to the development of research in the field of phonology.
All with an interest in phonology are welcome to join the society.

The Phonological Society of Japan is affiliated with the United Association of Language Studies (UALS). Please refer to the UALS website for more information.

II PhSJ ACTIVITIES
Spring Meeting: once every year, usually in June, the previous day of a conference of the Linguistic Society of Japan.
Phonology Forum: a 2-3 day meeting consisting of research papers presentations and lectures. Held once every year, usually in the second half of August.
We also hold an annual general meeting usually at a Spring Meeting (a financial report of the previous year, an activity report of the previous year, and a activity planning of the current year).
Publications:From 1997 onwards, the society publishes the journal Phonological Studies. The journal mainly contains papers presented at Spring Meeting and Phonology Forum.
(A volume with the title Phonological Theory: Theory and Practice (1996, Kaitakusha) was also published by the Phonology Research Group, the antecedent of the society.)Other events or projects proposed by members.

If you wish to join the society, please provide the secretariat with the following information.
Annual fee:
Regular members JPY5,000
Student members JPY4,000
Sustaining members JPY10,000
Supporting members JPY10,000 (Publishers)
- Supporting members may place advertisements in Phonological Studies for an additional JPY10,000 (one page) or JPY5,000 (half page). Please contact the secretariat for more information.
- The fiscal year is from April 1st to March 31st.

Members of the society will receive a copy of the journal Phonological Studies for free. (Note that members can only get a free copy of the number published in the year if the annual fee of the previous year was paid. If a member pays the fee of the previous year afterward, (s)he can get a copy of the number of the fee-paid year.
Back issues of Phonological Studies (No.1-), Phonological Studies: Theory and Practice (1996), and The State of the Art of Phonology (2016) can be purchased by the special membership price. If you need some, please contact to the publisher Kaitakusha directly. In this case, you need to inform the following information: address, name, the number of issues, the number of copies.
